Another video star coming up! But this time I am going to explain a little about each trip. The first part of the video is Munich and the second half is Amsterdam! The song is 500 Miles by The Proclaimers!
I had to put the video up on YouTube so hopefully you can watch it here:
We had a small group in Munich, just me Hannah and MaryClare. Not going to lie, Munich was one of my favorite cities.
- There was snow when we landed! :) Never been so excited to see snow! But since Munich is a city, there wasn't any on the ground, bummer.
- Yes, I know you are thinking why in the world we went to KFC... We were really hungry and it was right near our hostel!
- The best part were the Christmas markets! It really got me in the Christmas spirit!
- The traditional German clothing is very popular during Oktoberfest! The dress I am holding cost about 100 euros!
- MaryClare was showing me her family's technique of how they put on their coats in the winter! It brought back a lot of memories for her!
- On sunday, MaryClare and I went to Dachau which is the largest concentration camp in Germany. I could do a whole separate blog on the camp because it was so interesting. I was so fascinated with the subject and I learned so much. I did not put it in the video because I didn't think it was appropriate.
- The second Christmas market: Tollwood
- Bratworsts for dinner! They were so delicious!
- Hannah really wanted a schnitzel, and that is exactly what she got!
Off to Amsterdam!
- There was the huge Amsterdam sign right outside of our hostel. It was so fun to climb around and of course to take pictures by!
- Sorry for the amount of selfie shots, if you know me I love to take a good selfie!
- The canals and buildings is what makes Amsterdam so unique!
- More Christmas markets! This market was actually more food than shopping.
- Anne Frank House: Words cannot describe how rewarding the Anne Frank House was. We were not allowed to take pictures on the inside. We walked through the original secret annex with the bookcase that covered the door. Especially after being in Dachau, I really enjoyed walking through her house.
- There are small snipits of the Van Gogh Museum. It was right outside our hostel so we decided to check it out a little bit!
- I went ice skating for the first time! I slowly got to get the hang of it and became a pro at the end! Many thanks to my awesome teacher, Mary Kate!
Not pictured: Friday night we did a pub crawl to see the night life of Amsterdam. We got to taste some original German beer and meet people from London and Austria! The slogan: A night you won't remember but never forget!
I had a blast in all the cities I have been to! Amsterdam was the last city of my European adventure! It makes me sad that I have to leave Ireland in a week but I have no regrets and did everything I can! :) I will blog sometime later this week about all the amazing things here this semester!
Slainte!
