Today has been one of the longest days of my life! We arrived at the Dublin airport at 4:30 this morning and I have been running around since then. (It is now 6:47 as I am writing this!) Since it was dark when we arrived, I kept saying I felt like a zombie, just going through the motions. We checked into our "flats" and got time to get situated with our surroundings. I am on the first level in the apartment style housing called, Hurley. I have four other roommates! Caitlin is a from SMC and is actually studying Elem Ed just like me, small world I know! We met our other American roommate, Bethany (from Iowa), our Brazilian roommate Phillipe and I have not gotten the chance to meet our other male roommate from China.
We had a lot of free time in the morning to sleep and get unpacked. I got all my unpacking and decorating done with time for a little shut eye. Here's a snip it of the room:
The view from the door:
Of course I had to bring pictures and SMC (that's supposed to be a French Cross!)
Next, the FOOD! Today we had a group dinner at The Gatehouse which is a small little cafe located in the middle of Maynooth. I had a warm bowl of Irish stew which included carrots, potatoes, onions and beef. Nothing compares to my mom's homemade stew that she makes in the winter, it is one my absolute favorite after a cold day in Chicago weather.
So that is just a little synopsis of my first day in Maynooth! I haven't been here for 24 hours yet and I can tell that I am going to have so much fun and learn so much. I am so blessed to have this amazing opportunity and I am so glad I get to share it with you guys! There should be a section on the top where you can get emails for every time I update my blog so make sure you do that!
Sláinte! (Cheers!)
